Like alot of other young girls I wanted a horse. My parents said if you want a horse you have to get a job and buy one, and pay for the board. I was 12. I "worked" for free at a "Wild West Theme Park" just to be near horses and ride. That was the year I went to my first auction in NJ (no longer in operation). I cried myself to sleep that night. I also had to say goodbye to horses I spent summers with on the hack line at the "Theme Park". Fast forward a couple of years. I saved any money I made, shoveling snow, baby sitting, many odd jobs and bought Sundown, a Registered Appaloosa (and Whimpy grandson). I worked part time after school and paid his board. It was a horrible place, but I was there everyday to make sure he had what he needed. He was my best friend. He was 9 when I bought him, and I said goodbye to him at age 33. I grew up with him and we spent countless hours alone everyday. He is my heart horse and always will be. Sundown is the first part of "SunDew Stables & Equine Rescue" and Tully Mar Dew is the second. "Tully" was bought for my sister out of a backyard, skinny and green. She lost interest and he was almost sold to a horse dealer. I shutter to think what may have happened to him and the dream that was yet to happen to me. I took him over and worked him. I started showing him locally, and soon after on the Arabian circuit. He was a registered palomino Half Arabian. He made the Arabian Nationals two years in a row in Open and Amateur English Pleasure. He got there by taking two top five's at the Regionals in Upper Marlboro, Md (his first year out). His Mom was a New Holland Rescue and Dad - "Ilan", purebred Arabian owned by Barbara Carlson. He was foaled on April 1st, 1974. Big, bold, beautiful Palomino. He was absolutely stunning and floated across the ground. I said goodbye to him at 28. In their honor, Sun Dew Stables & Equine Rescue is born.
